Whitney Wolfe And The Dating App Bumble BFF Hit Next Level

Whitney Wolfe is the founder and CEO of the hit social dating application, Bumble. Bumble has risen to prominence over the past year as one of the top dating apps on the market thanks to its unique, feminist first, driven approach to matching up potential dating partners.

Whitney Wolfe has pushed hard ever since leaving Tinder, a company she co-founded, in order to bring something new and exciting to the market. Now, Wolfe is taking her property to the next level by renting out a pop up Bumble stop in New York City.

The pop up shop for Bumble will be on a month to month lease and Wolfe is already hinting that it could stick around longer if the concept is well received. The pop up shop will be called the Hive and it will be focused on providing a hub of conversation and relaxation for Bumble users who want to hang out and relax in a comfortable environment. The Hive is elaborately decorated and Whitney Wolfe is clearly focused on developing a brand and a community with this project. On location visitors will be able to buy food and drink from a Bumble coffee shop as well as listen to professional talks from entrepreneurs if they so desire.

Follow Whitney Wolfe on Instagram.

This is a revolutionary and innovative step forward for what has been one of our favorite and most exciting dating applications to keep an eye on. Over the first six months of Bumble’s lifespan the company saw nearly half of a million users sign up. Those users are sending upwards of 200,000 messages every single day while the company itself experiences incredible growth — 15% jumps in user registration every single week. It’s pretty simple to see that Whitney Wolfe and the rest of the team at Bumble have been making good on their promise to bring something special to market.

Whitney Wolfe’s decision to develop Bumble after leaving Tinder surprised many people. However, it’s only been made all the clearer that she knows what she is doing. Wolfe’s singleminded focus on developing Bumble BFF into an industry juggernaut is palpable to see.

Sheldon Lavin & OSI Group: Revolutionizing The Meat Processing Business

Sheldon Lavin already had a career in banking when he decided to come from being an ‘outsider’ in the meat supplying business to a globally-renowned powerhouse. He began financing a meat supply company called Otto & Sons that provided meat to the McDonalds corporation in the early 1970s.

By 1975, Sheldon Lavin had become far more invested in Otto & Sons, and the company began to look at overseas investments. He accepted the position of partner in the enterprise when the father retired. In the late 1970s, Otto and Sons underwent a name change to OSI, and McDonald’s asked Mr. Lavin to come on board full-time. For the next 20 years, OSI Group continued to expand, and when one of the partners quit, Sheldon Lavin bought his share of the company, bringing his total shares to over 50 percent. Mr. Lavin maintained these shares until 13 years ago when the last partner retired, and he bought his shares bringing Mr. Sheldon Lavin’s total shares to 100 percent.

Education and Work Background

Sheldon Lavin started his career in the investing and banking industry. He went on to open his investment firm, which he ran very successfully for years. He initially got involved in the meat supplying business by being asked to provide investment information and financing to Otto & Sons, a meat providing business out of Chicago, Illinois. He took on more and more responsibility before officially becoming a partner in the corporation years later. Mr. Lavin has a long history of philanthropy work, and is known for either working with these groups or serving on the boards:
Ronald McDonald House Charities
• President and Director of The Sheba Foundation, a family charitable foundation
• Board member of the Goodman Theatre
• Board member of Rush University Medical Center

Globe of Honor

OSI Group has won multiple awards since Mr. Lavin has taken over as CEO. OSI Group has been the recipient of the Globe of Honor by the British Safety Council in 2013, 2015, and 2016. This award is given to companies who exceed expectations in environmental management.

OSI Group and Sheldon Lavin have been changing the way the world does meat processing, and they will continue to do so for years to come.

Richard Mishaan Joins Other Top Designers In Annual Home Transformation

The home transformed by top designers in this year’s annual project is a townhouse in New York by architect Charles Platt. The house is narrow but huge, over 10,000 square feet and worth over $26 million. GQ‘s article about this transformation explained the challenges designers overcame. The article focusses on “The 13 Most Common Design Mistakes—And How to Fix Them.” Louise Hart’s piece focuses on mistakes men tend to make when designing a room.

Here are thirteen top tips to keep in mind when you design:

  1. Neutrals for a masculine look need color as well in order to add light. You can see this balance play out beautifully in examples like this from Richard Mishaan.

  1. Rougher textures need to be contrasted with smooth or shiny ones. Consider adding the the sophisticated touch of quality architectural glass which is taking the design world by storm.

  1. Rooms are meant to be lived in not just looked at. Think comfort. Think of the activities you enjoy in your home and buy quality pieces that can enhance that experience.

  1. Arranging the furniture against walls is another mistake. Float some pieces instead.

  1. Keep searching until you find the pieces you love. Pinterest is one of my favorite way to browse and check out unique ideas.

  1. Think about proportion.

  1. A small space doesn’t have to mean small furniture. Cut down on the number of pieces.

  1. Showcasing favorite objects will put your personality in the room.

  1. Work with what the room offers. There are ways of camouflaging defects in a room.

  1.  Buy a couple of new pieces

  1. Do some research. There is information out there. Follow twitter accounts of leading design experts which can become a wealth of design wisdom.

  1. Don’t let someone else make your choices. You have to live in the space.

  1. Don’t spend too much money on items that don’t make a difference.

Richard Mishaan, who designed the parlor room and offered the tip about showcasing your special pieces, is a Columbian-born New York-based designer. He owns Richard Mishaan Design as well as Homer Design, both located in New York City. He has two books available. Modern Luxury came out in 2009 and his latest is Artfully Modern, which are both available on Amazon. The lovely books are chock full of gorgeous photos of rooms in his own homes, as well as selections from the many successful designs he’s done for others.

Mishaan says “I have had the same sofas for the past 20 years. They’ve been re-upholstered once, but I feel like if you buy good things one time, they’ll just last.” In an article by the New York Post the fabulous designer Richard Mishaan lays out even more helpful ideas to be mindful of.

Misgivings for Momo

Popular romance and harem anime To LOVE-Ru features one of the largest cast of potential lovers for a male protagonist. Although the series primarily centers on Rito Yuuki’s perverted mishaps, it does manage to flesh out one of the most unique girls to come out of anime.

Momo Belia Deviluke is one of the younger sisters of Lala Satalin Deviluke. Although Lala is betrothed to Rito, Momo devises a scheme to wiggle herself into Rito’s heart. According to her logic, if Rito marries Lala and becomes king of the universe, he will be able to set any rules he wants. A change under his power would be to marry as many girls as he pleases. Momo wishes to persuade various girls to admit their own feelings for Rito in an effort for him to build a harem. It is within the harem that Momo believes she can feel the happiness of gaining Rito’s affection while still maintaining the other girls’ satisfaction.  Definitely already belongs on any of the best yuri anime lists.

Despite believing she would be fine at any rank in Rito’s heart, Momo like many anime girls is shown to, at times, not be content with falling short of first place. She often masks her vulnerability by making flirtatious advances toward him whenever possible. However, when given the opportunity to act seriously upon her emotions, she has been shown to shy away from them. The internal conflict Momo faces in regards to wanting everyone to be happy and admitting to herself what would make her happiest becomes an engaging point in To LOVE-Ru.
